HOW TO ADJUST uPVC DOOR “FLAG” HINGES
uPVC joinery does move slightly from time to time (depending on exposure to weather etc), and therefore some small adjustments my be necessary from time to time. The "Flag" hinges that uPVC doors have are fully adjustable in every direction.
NB – you will need to adjust all hinges on the door in tandem a bit at a time, do not just fully adjust 1 hinge as the will put extra strain on the hinge and the door and could bend it out of shape.
To adjust the height of a uPVC door
Use a small screwdriver to pop the top of the hinge cover plate off to expose the adjusters (be careful not to snap the locating lugs off) -
Then Using a 4mm Allen Key, turn the screw closest to the frame in the direction required to heighten or lower the door (clockwise will lift the door) -
To adjust the uPVC door(s) towards or away from each other
Open the door to expose the inside of the hinges and unscrew the small pan head screw. Close the door.
Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the end of the hinge cover and lever it open (it may be stiff, so be careful not to mark the door or the hinge cover) -
There are various screw that will be exposed – do not undo any of the cross headed screws! Only adjust the Allen Key screws!
Turn the “locking” screw” in the direction shown to unlock the hinge with a 4mm Allen Key about a quarter of a turn -
Use the same Allen Key on the other screw to adjust the hinge according to which direction you need to move it in (this will give you =/-5mm of adjustment) -
Turn the locking screw back to locked position, fold the hinge cover flap back against the door and secure with the screw from the reverse side.
Clamping adjustment
It is unlikely that you will need to use the 3rd adjustment screw (the furthest All screw away from the door frame located within the top of the hinge). This will allow you to clamp the door tighter or looser against the frame.
