uPVC fascia boards for garden cabins
uPVC fascia boards are the best choice for garden buildings that require little or no ongoing maintenance. The perimeter of the roof are subject to the weather as they are constantly getting wet or being baked in the sun. Even if the timber remains in good condition, the paint or stain will flake or degrade and need to be re-painted at regular intervals. But of course, they are also the hardest part to maintain - the worst of both worlds! Consequently they are the least likely to be painted and maintained. Given that timber only lasts a limited amount of time under these harsh conditions, there is only going to be one outcome. We have the solution for maintenance free, fix-and-forget fascia and barge boards. These only need a simple wipe with a damp rag every once in a while to keep them looking like new.
Maintenance and rot free fascia boards and barge boards installed on garden cabin
Log cabin fascia board construction
The normal method for log cabin fascia installation means the barge boards are a 2 part construction. The main part being the main barge board itself, which finishes the roof edge off neatly. But then there is a secondary functional part to it as well. This being the barge cover fillet. This affixes to the top of the barge board to form an L shape. The function is to cover the edge of the roofing material (commonly felt shingles). This stops the wind getting under the vulnerable bit of the roof (the edge) and blowing it off, or just making it flap around in a strong wind. The most exposed part of the roof edges is the top cover fillet. This part is constantly exposed to the brunt of the weather and therefore has a limited lifespan. So the answer is to upgrade your timber barge boards to a one part uPVC barge board for a long life - no rot and no painting!
Hortons offer 3 different “standard” colours of uPVC fascias
-
White (flat white colour)
-
Light oak (natural wood colour with grain effect)
-
Black (flat black colour)

We also offer many more colour options (price on application). There are enough colours available to colour match them with your garden cabin - green, different shades of grey, various shades of woodgrain effect brown (ideal for a stained building rather than a painted cabin), etc.
Think long term
Although it costs more at the outset, uPVC fascias will actually be much cheaper over the lifetime of the building. Choosing a long term solution for your roofing material and for your fascia and barge boards gives you peace of mind that you won't have any expensive roof maintenance work for many many years (if at all).
