Our range of recycled rubber roofing tiles are available in 3 standard colours�(grey, red and green)�this tile effect looking slate is self bonding and has the unique flexibility to be used for all valleys and ridges. There is never a need for custom-made accessories because every slate can be cut and set to any angle or size you need.
Another unique advantage that distinguishes these slates from any other synthetic slate on the market is that they have a built-in adhesive that allows them to bond together once fully installed. The benefit of this process gives you a stronger, more pliable solid membrane that leaves you with a better insulated roof.
The installation process is very basic as the tiles are fitted straight onto roof, no roof battens are required, a non-perforated asphalt saturated felt underlay and then nailed down in two places using the relevant size copper, stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanised nails: it�s that simple. Membrane and nails are supplied free of charge.
Over a period of time the slate will self-bond together forming a solid membrane on your roof. This process has no specific timescale as it relies on sunlight, and therefore bonds faster during the summer months than the winter months. This process makes the installation much more cost effective as it takes less than half the time to install than traditional slate, all without any damage or breakages and problems associated with real slate tiles.

This is our standard single cabin window.

The window has draught excluder all round and is secured by 2 adjustable Scandinavian latches, 1 at the top corner and 1 at the bottom corner which clamp the sashes tight into the draught-proofing seal and makes it a very solid fit.

The hinges are also adjustable, making it a very easy item to fit and maintain.

Clear vs Tints

Is Clear suitable for exterior horizontal timber, eg decks?

While clear coatings have UV stabilisers in them, certain UV wavelengths penetrate through the coating and damage the timber underneath. This can cause the timber to become fibrous and discolour, releasing the coating from below. Thus it would be far better UV protection to use a tinted coating under these conditions.

I want to keep the natural colour of my timber deck, what should I use?

Further to the UV protection of tinted coatings being far better, as the tints have a natural UV reflection, it would always be advisable to choose the colour of Rystix that matches closest to the colour of your timber, this will enhance the life of the deck, the coating and give you a far longer life before maintenance is necessary.

What is the best product for my outside wood?

Rystix Timbacare has 2 product ranges for exterior timber, 1 solvent-based and the other water-based, these products have been proven over the past 15 years to not only outlast the opposition but also to provide the customer with 60-70% savings on time, labour & maintenance costs over a period of time.

Are there exterior coatings available which do not crack or peel with time?

Yes, and these are known as Timbacare long-life sealers. Do not use varnishes which peel and flake. Timbacare sealer contains a high level of UV protection, water repellence and as well as protection against fungus and insect attack.

Can treated timber be treated with coatings?

Yes, Timbacare sealer can be applied to timber which has the recognised treatments such as Tanalith, PCP, Creosote, etc, provided the timber is dry and clean.

How many coats are required?

A minimum of 3 coats is required to ensure the maximum protection and life out of the product. The coverage is approximately 10 square metres per litre.

Is it necessary to sand between coats?

The only time sanding is required between coats is if fibres rise making the surface rough, however this normally only occurs after applying the first coat.

Can Timbacare coatings ever fail?

Yes, if applied to surfaces which are not clean and dry or in bad weather conditions. Always follow the instructions on the tin to ensure the product is applied correctly.

What moisture content is required in the timber to be coated?

In general all timber to be coated should be dry. Do not apply a coating before the timber has reached the equilibrium moisture of it's environment.

Maintenance

Is it necessary to sand off all old coatings before using Rystix?

The general rule of thumb is, If in doubt, take it off, however, should the existing coating be sound, but looking tired, then a good key sanding with either sandpaper or sanding pad is necessary, then the surface wiped clean with a turps damp cloth to remove dust & impurities, then the Rystix can be applied neat and evenly in a thin even coat.

How often must I maintain my timber?

Rystix does not have a fixed maintenance cycle, but rather touch up maintenance as and when you feel it is necessary should certain sections / areas of your building / deck look tired and dull, then it is only necessary to lightly sand and clean with solvent to de-grease the surface and a quick maintenance coat can be applied to restore the coating to it's original beauty.

This base kits is made up of the following items:
Recycled plastic posts (which will not rot and also form a damp proof course) are concreted into the ground with postmix readymixed concrete (also supplied) at approximately 2m spacings around the perimeter and half way along each internal joist (if more than 3m span).
A big advantage is that you do not have to level the ground as you would with a concrete base because you simply use longer posts where the ground level drops away.

We provide a CAD drawing for each base if you intend to install this item yourself.

Method of construction of the raised timber base
47x150mm tanalised timbers are fixed together to form the ring beam around the outer edge, which is then chocked up to be level and square�(just above ground level, giving under floor ventilation) to form an outer ring beam for the main cabin walls to bear on. This then dictates where the corner posts are to be concreted into the ground. Once the corner holes are dug, the plastic posts can then be offered into the holes, cut off to the correct length (the posts are supplied in long lengths to give flexibility for the lengths required), bolted to each of the timbers it is in contact with (lengths of threaded rod, nuts and washers are supplied with our kits) and concreted in using the quick setting postmix which is also supplied with our kits. Further intermediate plastic posts are then fixed onto the outer ring beam in the same manner as the corner posts at no more than 2m spacings.

The position of the internal joists can then be marked around the outer ring beam timbers. Joist hangers (supplied with the kit) are then fixed according to the marking out and the internal joists fixed into the joist hangers. If the span of the internal joists is greater than 3m then intermediate plastic posts are required which are are bolted to the joists in the same manner as the outer ring beam.
It is also possible that more materials may be required once the groundworks have started (there may be soft ground or tree roots where posts have to be moved in order to span across them or if heavy equipment is to be installed where an extra post may be required for extra support, etc.), this is impossible to allow for before this point but can be supplied very quickly to avoid delays. It is the customers responsibility to ensure that reasonable precautions have been taken if potential problems are known beforehand (ie if heavy loads are to be put onto the base especially if they are concentrated in one area, built up ground, hard ground in the summer which becomes soft ground in the winter due to rising water tables, etc), in order to alleviate any future problems (ie subsidence). It is not possible to guarantee the stability of the base unless a ground survey has been carried out and structural calculations have been made by a qualified structural engineer.
This forms a very sturdy base onto which the cabins can be built directly, giving major time advantages over the more traditional concrete bases.
If the building is greater than 30 sq m internal floor area, then building regulations will apply. We are able to upgrade the raised timber base to comply with building regulations at extra cost - this cost can not be determined until calculations have been made by a structural engineer (at extra cost) and also inspections have been made by a local council building control officer once the work has commenced, who will determine the depth of holes required for the posts which is subject to site/soil conditions.

Clear vs Tints

Is Clear suitable for exterior horizontal timber, eg decks?

I want to keep the natural colour of my timber deck, what should I use?

What is the best product for my outside wood?

Can treated timber be treated with coatings?

Yes, Timbacare sealer can be applied to timber which has the recognised treatments such as Tanalith, PCP, Creosote, etc, provided the timber is dry and clean.

How many coats are required?

A minimum of 3 coats is required to ensure the maximum protection and life out of the product. The coverage is�approximately�10 square metres per litre.

Is it necessary to sand between coats?

The only time sanding is required between coats is if fibres rise making the surface rough, however this normally only occurs after applying the first coat.

Can Timbacare coatings ever fail?

Yes, if applied to surfaces which are not clean and dry or in bad weather conditions. Always follow the instructions on the tin to ensure the product is applied correctly.

What moisture content is required in the timber to be coated?

In general all timber to be coated should be dry. Do not apply a coating before the timber has reached the equilibrium moisture of it's environment.

The Bramble Playhouse measures 8� x 6� and also has an Internal Loft and Play Area, it is a very popular playhouse and makes good use of the internal space that will keep your children amused for hours. The internal space has a second floor and the strong build means that the risk of injury isn't a problem.
This playhouse is BS EN71 certified which means it has been tested by the European Toy Standards for safety of use.
The many windows are Georgian style and are glazed with Styrene which is much safer than glass as it doesn't shatter, and is more environmentally friendly than glass.
The door has Safety hinges which prevent childrens' fingers from getting trapped and the upstairs mezzanine floor has safety railings to prevent children from falling.
The ladder leading up to the second floor has grooved treads for good grip, is angled for easy climbing and strong stable rungs for support.
Children using any raised play structures, whether it be� one of our tower units or has a raised second floor, should be under adult supervision at all times.
The Bramble Playhouse is clad with smooth tongue and grooved shiplap and the roof and floor utilise OSB boarding for stability.
Charcoal Grey roofing felt is supplied as standard which protects the roof of the playhouse from the elements and therefore helps protect from wood rot for many years.

In order to receive the full 10 year anti-rot guarantee, it is necessary that you treat the garden building with a high quality, spirit-based, timber preservative prior to or shortly after construction. The perfect family sized barbecue house. This will seat 12 people comfortably and will sleep 3.
The building is manufactured from the finest redwood forests of Estonia. The 6 walls are 45mm thick (nearly 2inches). The windows are all double glazed and fitted with high quality brass finished fittings. The inside has benches fitted to 5 walls, these convert to 3 sleeping platforms when needed.

Building specification and details:

In the centre of the Barbecue House there is a specially designed circular barbecue with removable tables. There are 3 adjustable, rotating cooking platforms for holding the kettle, saucepan and frying skillet over the charcoals. There are also 2 Blaze boards which are used for cooking a side of salmon or trout.
